Canon Receives Top-Level Supplier Engagement Leader Award from International Non-Profit Organization CDP Program

TOKYO, JAPAN — May 20, 2026 — Canon Inc. announced today that it has been named a Supplier Engagement Leader in the 2025 CDP Supplier Engagement Assessment, conducted by the U.K.-based non-profit organization CDP, for the fifth time. The Supplier Engagement Assessment evaluates companies from all around the world that work effectively with suppliers in response to climate change.

Under its corporate philosophy of kyosei, Canon aims to realize a society that achieves a beneficial balance between lifestyle enrichment and the environment, and promotes environmental conservation activities in tandem with its business operations. Canon aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions throughout the entire product life cycle (scope 1, 2, and 3) by 2050. Canon has also set science-based GHG emissions reduction targets in line with SBTi standards: by 2030, a 42% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 25% reduction in Scope 3 emissions (category 1 and 11) compared to 2022 levels.

To achieve these targets, Canon works together with suppliers to reduce GHG emissions through measures such as visualizing GHG emissions and adopting materials and parts that produce low amounts of GHG emissions. Canon also promotes incorporating actual emissions data for raw materials and components provided by suppliers into the life cycle GHG emissions calculations for its products. In addition, the company is developing the necessary frameworks to ensure that suppliers’ emission reduction efforts are appropriately reflected in these calculations, strengthening collaboration on decarbonization across the entire supply chain. Furthermore, GHG emission data including Scope 3 is assured by a third-party entity.

Together with its suppliers, Canon promotes initiatives towards net-zero GHG emissions throughout the life cycle of its products.
