gapTCO CPP Comparison of Four A4 SOHO Color MFPs

This month’s installment compares the Canon Color imageCLASS MF644Cdw, the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw, the Lexmark MC3224i, and the Xerox C235/DNI.

At an AMPV of 750 pages, under a five-year length of ownership, and leveraging the manufacturer website price for hardware:

The Canon Color imageCLASS MF644Cdw is the winning product with the lowest TCO at $4,565.00, followed by the Xerox C235/DNI at $4,763.57, the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw at $4,770.59, and the Lexmark MC3224i at $6,054.25.

• The Lexmark MC3224i and the Xerox C235/DNI offer the fastest print speeds at 24ppm, followed by the Canon Color imageCLASS MF644Cdw and the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw at 22ppm.
• The Lexmark and Xerox models are very similar as the Xerox device leverages engine technology from Lexmark. Similarly, HP sources its LaserJet engine technology from Canon.
• All printers with the exception of the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw offer a 251 sheet standard and maximum print capacity. The HP model features a slightly smaller standard and maximum capacity at 250 sheets.
• All of the models in the comparison provide users with auto duplex printing capabilities, wireless connectivity, and Gigabit Ethernet support.
