gapTCO CPC Comparison of Four A4 Small Workteam Color MFPs

The gapTCO tool powered by OpenBrand is an intuitive, graphical user experience designed to allow simple and easy analysis of the Total Cost of Ownership of printer and MFP devices. This month’s installment compares the Konica Minolta bizhub C4051i, the Kyocera ECOSYS MA4000cifx, the Ricoh IM C401F, and the Toshiba e-STUDIO400AC.

At an AMPV of 2,000 pages, under a five-year period of ownership, and leveraging the average public sector price for hardware:

The Toshiba e-STUDIO400AC is the winning product with the lowest TCO at $7,595.46, followed by the Kyocera ECOSYS MA4000cifx at $8,253.33, the Konica Minolta bizhub C4051i at $8,676.34, and the Ricoh IM C401F at $9,191.51.

• The Ricoh IM C401F has a slight advantage in print speeds at 45/42ppm. The MFPs from Konica Minolta, Kyocera, and Toshiba are tied for second at 42ppm for both B&W and color printing.

• The Ricoh IM C401F and the Toshiba e-STUDIO400AC feature the largest standard input capacity at 650 sheets each, followed closely by Konica Minolta at 600 sheets then Kyocera at 350 sheets.

• The Ricoh IM C401F features the most robust B&W scan speeds at 60ipm simplex and 120ipm duplex. The Konica Minolta bizhub C4051i offers the fastest color scan speeds at 45ipm simplex and 90ipm duplex. The Ricoh model offers 40ipm simplex and 80ipm duplex scan speeds, while the Kyocera MFP delivers 40/20ipm simplex speeds at 80/40ipm duplex speeds.

• All models come equipped with Gigabit Ethernet support. The Ricoh device is equipped with standard wireless networking, while all other devices offer optional WiFi connectivity.

• All of the MFPs except for the Kyocera model feature a 10.1-inch color touchscreen display. The Kyocera ECOSYS MA4000cifx comes equipped with a 7.0-inch color touchscreen display.
