gapTCO CPC Comparison of Four A3 Workgroup B&W MFPs

This month’s installment compares the Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 4735i, HP LaserJet Managed Flow MFP E82540z, Kyocera TASKalfa 4003i, and the Xerox VersaLink B7035H.

At an AMPV of 10,000 pages, under a five-year length of ownership, and leveraging average private sector pricing for hardware:

The Xerox VersaLink B7035H is the winning product with the lowest TCO of $10,738.32, followed by the Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 4735i with a TCO of $ 10,850.00, the HP LaserJet Managed Flow MFP E82540z with a TCO of $ 11,542.72, and the Kyocera TASKalfa 4003i with a TCO of $11,776.02.

  • All four models offer standard print, copy, and scan functionality, while fax is optional.
  • The HP LaserJet Managed Flow MFP E82540z and the Kyocera TASKalfa 4003i provide the fastest print speeds at up to 40ppm, and the Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 4735i and the Xerox VersaLink B7035H both produce up to 35ppm print speeds.
  • When comparing duplex scan speeds, the Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 4735i provides the fastest scan speeds at up to 270ipm for black and color images, followed by the HP LaserJet Managed Flow MFP E82540z at 240ipm, then the Kyocera TASKalfa 4003i with duplex scan speeds of 220ipm, and the Xerox VersaLink B7035H with up to 26ipm for both black and color images.
  • The Canon, HP, and Xerox MFPs all have a standard DADF while the Kyocera MFP offers an optional RADF or DADF. The Kyocera TASKalfa 4003i DADF capacity is the largest at up to 270-sheets, followed by the HP LaserJet Managed Flow MFP E82540z with a DADF capacity of 250-sheets, and the Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 4735i with a DADF capacity of 200-sheets.  The Xerox VersaLink B7035H features the smallest DADF capacity at up to 110-sheets.
  • The Xerox VersaLink B7035H provides users with the largest standard paper input capacity at 3,140-sheets, followed by the Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 4735i at 1,200-sheets, and the Kyocera TASKalfa 4003i at 1,150-sheets, while the HP LaserJet Managed Flow MFP E82540z has the smallest standard paper input capacity of 1,140-sheets.
  • All four devices have a standard color touchscreen display with the Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 4735i and Kyocera TASKalfa 4003i having the largest 10.1-inch panels. The HP LaserJet Managed Flow MFP E82540z features an 8.1-inch display, while the Xerox VersaLink B7035H has the smallest display within the comparison at 7.0-inch.
