gapTCO CPP/CPC Comparison of Four A4 Color Workgroup MFPs

The gapTCO is an intuitive, graphical user experience designed to allow simple and easy analysis of the Total Cost of Ownership of printer and MFP devices. This month’s edition compares the Lexmark CX820de, Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C350iF, OKI Data MPS3537mc+ and HP Color LaserJet Enterprise Flow MFP M577z.

gapTCO includes both printer-based products and copier-based MFP devices and offers two sales model types: Cartridge (CPP) and Contract (CPC). CPP rates are based on consumables usage. CPC rates include the cost of all consumables and maintenance and are not impacted by consumable usage.

At an AMPV of 6000 pages, 60 percent color pages, 20 percent color coverage, 5 percent black coverage, three year length of ownership, Manufacturer Web Pricing (printers) and Average Public Sector Contract Pricing (MFP copiers) for hardware:

• The Lexmark CX820de (Cartridge CPP) is the winning product with the lowest TCO of $14,338.08, followed by the Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C350iF (Contract CPC) with a TCO of $15,050.05, OKI Data MPS3537mc+ (Contract CPC; $15,576.46), and the HP Color LaserJet Enterprise Flow MFP M577z (Cartridge CPP; $19,799.75).

• The HP Color LaserJet Enterprise Flow MFP M577z is the only device in the comparison to offer Wi-Fi, and NFC as standard connectivity features.

• Both the OKI Data MPS3537mc+ and HP Color LaserJet Enterprise Flow MFP M577z offer Finishing as a standard functionality, while the Canon Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C350iF and Lexmark CX820de offer Finishing as optional.

• All devices in the comparison have touchscreen displays. The OKI Data MPS3537mc+ offers the largest touchscreen display at 9 inches, followed by the HP Color LaserJet Enterprise Flow MFP M577z at 8 inches and the Lexmark CX820de, Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C350iF each at 7 inches.
