A steady beat of the “FUJIFILM” song and vibrant green were the backdrop as FUJIFILM launched the Revoria Press PC2120 at their Graphics Innovation Hub in Hanover Park, IL last week to an overflow audience of channel partners, print shops, solutions providers and industry analysts and media. Following a warm welcome by FUJIFILM Division President Tommy Katagiri, the Head of FUJIFILM Print Portfolio, Andrew Gunn, gave the command to unveil the latest digital press.

Agentic AI and Automation

The defining theme of the PC2120 is “smart press optimization” driven by agentic AI. A unique feature is the one-click press setting at the digital front end (DFE), which automatically adjusts image quality settings per job — reportedly operating up to 86% faster than manual processes. FUJIFILM says it has quadrupled its AI capabilities; the press can now automatically assess and correct text lines, vector graphics, and gradients on the fly, bypassing the need to send files back to a designer. In addition, the smart monitoring gate is designed to act as a real-time safeguard. The post-fuse module is designed to inspect each page, and by the 10th sheet, is said to automatically detect and correct density or front-to-back registration anomalies without stopping the press or wasting paper.

Media Flexibility and Setup Efficiency

For operators, the standard substrate profiler could be a differentiator.  Utilizing four internal instruments, it automatically detects paper type, basis weight, and color, applying the correct electrical bias transfer charge. FUJIFILM reports that this reduces the media configuration time from 22 minutes down to roughly 90 seconds (an 80% time reduction) and can identify stray, unlabeled paper stocks by searching the press library.

Color Innovation and Inline Finishing

FUJIFILM is expanding print capabilities with its new green toner. Paired with fluorescent pink, it extends the range to hit up to 93% of the Pantone library, allowing designers working in RGB spaces to achieve true-to-screen vividness. Additionally, the press is capable of delivering double hits of white toner in a single pass with guaranteed color-to-color registration. One of the largest pain points in production print currently is a lack of qualified operators and service technicians. FUJIFILM has worked to eliminate maintenance hurdles to get ahead of these issues. Operators can now swap out specialty colors in under 10 minutes using one tool, requiring zero clean sheets to clear residual toner off the belts.

“Voice of the Industry”

Morten Reitoft of Inkish-TV, Christine Yardley of Print Panther Direct, German Sacristan of Keypoint Intelligence and Jeff Howicz of TEAM Concept Printing

The audience was promised a spirited discussion on the evolving landscape of the print industry and the “Voice of the Industry” panel delivered.  The panelists discussed the convergence of AI, automation, and embellished print and tackled print’s rapid evolution, emphasizing a critical shift away from low-margin commodity work and toward high-value specialty services. The overarching message was clear: modern technology should be leveraged to elevate print’s role within the wider marketing ecosystem.

Jeff Howicz of Team Concept Printing argued that workflow automation is the ultimate disruptor, capable of stripping out human touchpoints across the entire journey from estimating to shipping. His golden rule for digital enhancements is strict intentionality: when chasing premium visual impact, less is more.

German Sacristan of Keypoint Intelligence zeroed in on AI’s ability to simplify complex data campaigns for brands, which in turn organically drives print volume. He cautioned that print remains underrepresented in AI data pools, urging print service providers to be more aggressive about sharing success stories to prove ROI to today’s marketers.

Christine Yardley of Print Panther Direct declared traditional commodity print dead, championing instead the convergence of AI, automation, and CMYK+ enhancements. For her, press speed is a secondary metric — what really matters is a fearless, creative “maker” mindset paired with close vendor collaboration.

And Morten Reitoft of Inkish TV struck an optimistic macroeconomic note, pointing out that market consolidation is creating strong profitability for printers who master self-marketing. He singled out mass customization and the “production of one” as a major growth frontier, one that unlocks the highly profitable long-tail publishing market. Andrew Gunn closed the panel with a perfect distillation for the audience to ponder: to thrive with next-generation presses, the industry must be brave, be bright, and be intentional.

“Make More Win”

Yuji Oki, General Manager, FUJIFILM

Throughout the launch it became clear that the new Revoria Press PC2120 is designed to maximize profit potential. The strategy for the PC2120 system to be initially sold and supported solely through FUJIFILM’s direct sales and authorized dealer channels may give them the opportunity to distinguish themselves as a dominant player. Yuji Oki urged the audience to “make more win,” and with the PC2120, FUJIFILM appears to be putting its strongest hand on the table.
