Canon
The new imageRUNNER ADVANCE 4000 series offers what Canon calls an “upgrade path” from the nearly four-year-old imageRUNNER 3425 series, which included the imageRUNNER 3225, 3230, 3235/3235i and 3245/3245i with output speeds of 25 ppm, 30 ppm, 35 ppm and 45 ppm, respectively. The new four-model family of A3 monochrome MFPs includes the 25-ppm imageRUNNER ADVANCE 4025, the 35-ppm imageRUNNER ADVANCE 4035, the 45-ppm imageRUNNER ADVANCE 4045 and the 51-ppm imageRUNNER ADVANCE 4051. Canon’s imageRUNNER ADVANCE architecture uses the firm's Quick Fixing (QF) mechanically ground toner, RAPID fusing technology and long-life E-Drum technology.
Dell
Dell's new high-end monochrome hardware will be at a disadvantage going up against similar products from rival printer vendors. Although it is slightly less expensive to operate than the Lexmark T654dn, the Dell 5530dn costs $600 more than the $1,449 Lexmark unit.
Dell
The Dell 5535dn is a departmental monochrome MFP based on the same Lexmark engine as the Dell 5530dn printer. The 5530 and 5535 feature a 600 MHz processor and share the same specs, including a 55-ppm print speed and a 275,000-page monthly duty cycle.
Hewlett-Packard / HP
HP has replaced the LaserJet 4345 MFP line with the new M4555 machines, a family of A4 monochrome print/copy/scan devices available with or without faxing capabilities.
Kyocera Mita
Kyocera Mita has expanded its monochrome MFP lineup with these two new 42-ppm ECOSYS machines. The FS-3040MFP is a print, copy, scan machine and the FS-3140MFP model adds fax capabilities. Ultimately, the low operating cost of the ECOSYS machines should make them attractive to businesses that are looking to control printing costs.

The TASKalfa 552ci is a print, copy and scan device with optional fax. Kyocera Mita supports its MFPs with Hybrid Platform for Advanced Solutions (HyPAS) technology, which allows developers to create customized applications for specific digital imaging needs.
Hewlett-Packard / HP
On November 1, HP released its eight-model LaserJet Enterprise 600 M600 A4 monochrome laser printer series. The firm says the machines are designed to support medium to large workgroups with high-volume print environments. The new machines are based on the same basic print technology employed by their predecessors, the LaserJet P4000 family, which includes the LaserJet P4014, P4015 and P4515. The engine was also leveraged for HP’s new LaserJet Enterprise M4555 MFP family. The engine in the newer units has been enhanced with both HP FutureSmart firmware and a faster processor, and presumably, the new monochrome units will be featured in HP's growing MPS program.
Lexmark
The new Lexmark X950 series of LED A3 MFPs, which include the X950de, X952dte, and X954dhe, replaces the X940e and X945e models. The new machines offer print, copy, scan and fax functionality.
OKI
Oki has revamped its lineup of single-function monochrome printers for small to mid-sized workgroups with the launch of the B700 line. We expect to see Oki dealers offer the B700 machines in MPS packages. In fact, Oki will offer a machine from the new line as part of its "MPS Hardware Series" of machines.
Ricoh
The new Aficio SP 5200S, SP 5210SF and SP 5210SR are Ricoh's first high-speed monochrome A4 MFPs. The machines are designed to offer end users a fully featured, departmental A4 device that can act as an alternative to A3 MFPs and digital copiers. The SP 5000 family supports workgroups of between 10 and 30 users and features the same controller and processor found in higher-end A3 devices.
Ricoh
Ricoh replaced the Aficio MP 4000 and MP 5000 MFPs with the new MP 4001 and MP 5001. The new units are apparently based on the same architecture as the older machines—many of the specs are identical, including the physical size, processor, and memory features.
Ricoh
Ricoh has introduced the Aficio MP C300, MP C300SR, MP C400, and MP C400SR, a new line of letter/A4-sized color MFPs with the features and functionality of its A3 color MFPs. Based on a brand-new, Ricoh-developed engine design, the Aficio MP C300 and MP C300SR produce output at 32 ppm, and the Aficio MP C400 and MP C400SR print and copy at 42 ppm. Paper input is 650 sheets standard, expandable to 2,300 sheets, and all four machines have a standard 50-sheet reversing automatic document feeder (RADF) and standard duplexing.
Ricoh
Ricoh has replaced the Aficio MP C2800, MP C3300, MP C4000, and MP C5000 with the new Aficio MP C3001, MP C3501, MP C4501, and MP C5501. The new line of A3 color MFPs offer some advanced security features, including Ricoh's DataOverwriteSecurity System (DOSS), which is designed to overwrite hard drive data after each copy, scan, fax, and print job, and various methods of authentication.
Ricoh
Ricoh has managed to keep the operating costs of its two new machines down, and this will give them an advantage in the marketplace. The cost per page for a black-and-white document is only slightly over a penny, and color printing costs just over a nickel a page.
Sharp
On August 10, Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America (SIICA) replaced the MX-4101N with the new Sharp MX-4110N and MX-4111N and replaced the MX-5001N with the MX-5110N and MX-5111N. The MX-4110N and MX-4111N are A3 print/copy/scan MFPs capable of printing up to 41 pages per minute. The MX-5110N and MX-5111N offer the same functionality but print at 51 ppm.
Toshiba America Business Solutions
Toshiba America Business Solutions (TABS) is replacing its e-STUDIO 2330c, 2830c, 3530c and 4520c with the new e-STUDIO 4540c line, which includes the e-STUDIO 2040c, 2540c, 3040c, 3540c and 4540c. Xerox
In March, Xerox replaced the Phaser 4510 family with the new Phaser 4600/N, 4600/DN, 4600/DT, 4620/DN and 4620/DT. These new departmental monochrome laser printers are based on a new engine design, which Xerox claims makes them the fastest printers in their class.
Xerox
Xerox replaced the Phaser 6360 A4 color laser printer family with the new Phaser 6700 printer series. The new machines include four units based on a new Fuji Xerox laser engine. With a top print speed of 47 pages per minute in both the black-and-white and color modes, the new machines are five pages a minute faster than their predecessors. The 6700 line also has a more robust monthly duty cycle than the older machines, and they come with a new 4.3-inch touch screen user interface.
Xerox
Xerox has replaced its aging Phaser 7760 tabloid color laser printer line with the new Phaser 7800 family. Unlike the older line, which was based on a laser print engine, the new 7800 series employs HiQ LED technology. According to Xerox, the HiQ LED print system provides enhanced performance over older color laser engines such as that used in the 7760. The firm claims its new LED technology offers better dot-to-dot density and more precise color registration while reducing energy consumption and noise. The new Phaser 7800 features other new technologies such as a newly designed printer controller. There are three models in the new 7800 lineup.
Xerox
With the launch of the new 5700 family, Xerox joins a number of OEMs that have launched new Series 3 and 4 units in the past year. The bad economy has breathed new life into the markets for higher-end monochrome MFPs, because they provide lower operating costs than color units with similar feature sets.
Xerox
Occupying the center of Xerox's new WorkCentre 5700 family of A3/tabloid black-and-white MFPs are the WorkCentre 5755 and 5765. Xerox has limited distribution of the line to its direct sales forces, authorized Xerox sales agents, and Global Imaging Systems.
Xerox
The WorkCentre 5775 and 5790 sit atop Xerox's WorkCentre 5700 family of A3/tabloid black-and-white MFPs. There are seven units in the 5700 family, which replace Xerox's WorkCentre 5600 line. Both new units are for in-plant repro operations and print-for-pay shops.
Xerox
Xerox's new WorkCentre 7545 and 7556 are A3 color MFPs that replace the WorkCentre 7346, 7755, and 7765. The new WorkCentre 7545 and 7556 are differentiated by output speed, duty cycle, and cost. The two machines use Xerox's HiQ LED print heads, which are also used in other current Xerox machines such as the Phaser 7500 and WorkCentre 7400.
