Summary |

 The new Lexmark X950 series of LED A3 MFPs, which include the X950de, X952dte, and X954dhe, replaces the X940e and X945e models. The new machines offer print, copy, scan, fax functionality. The X950de has a black and white print speed of 45 pages per minute and prints color document at up to 40 ppm. The X952dte prints black-only jobs at 50 pages per minute and color documents at up to 45 ppm, while the X954dhe print black at 55 ppm and color at 50 ppm. Lexmark has not confirmed its technology provider, but the X950 series shares some striking similarities with the Xerox WorkCentre 7500 family, which is manufactured by Fuji Xerox. The Xerox device employs the HiQ LED print head and EA Ultra Low Melt (EA-ULM) toner, also known as EA-Eco toner, and it looks like the X950's engine has similar technology.
The X950 MFPs use a new 38,000-page black replacement toner cartridge and three new CMY color cartridges that yield 24,000 pages a piece. The list of additional X950 consumables include one black photoconductor and new color photoconductors that come in packages of three. The photoconductors yielded 115,000 pages each. Also, the machines require a waste toner container that has a 30,000 page yield.
The X950 units will compete with the Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5051; the HP Color LaserJet CM6040f; the Konica Minolta bizhub C452 and C552; the Ricoh Aficio MP C4000, MP C4501, and MP C5000; and the Xerox WorkCentre 7545. We think the Lexmark machines will make worthy competitors. They are feature rich and are available with various connectivity, input, and finishing options. The cost of a black and white page is low for a color machine but color printing is a little pricey. The new X950 line is currently available through Lexmark's various channel partners. |
